Rotary Club of Hendersonville - past board member-awarded “Rotarian of the Year," 2011-12;
Nashville Downtown Kiwanis Club - past board member-awarded “Member of the Year” 1998-99; Hendersonville Masonic Lodge approaching 30 years and Shriner, Al Menah Temple, Nashville; past board member for Historic Rock Castle; Middle Tennessee Cancer Society, awarded “Man of the Year” for fundraising 2001; former Mentor in three Sumner County elementary schools in conjunction with (COMPASS) Community Outreach Making Partnerships At Sumner Schools; recognized by the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency for supporting and helping with youth boat safety.
Paul is always striving to help our youth and our education system. He has served on numerous boards that have created and funded scholarships for both needy and deserving students, including “The Bootstraps of Middle Tennessee.” Paul’s most cherished project, which he initiated, is “Educate & Grow Sumner County,” a program that has already provided over $800K to Sumner County students to attend college. This same program was the model Governor Bill Haslam used to create the “TNAchieves” program, which is now serving students in all ninety-five TN counties. And the Governor has credited Paul with the idea.
Paul also serves as an elected official, having been elected and re-elected in our community since 2005 ~ as a Sumner County Commissioner where he has served on and/or chaired some of our most important committees, including Budget Chairman, overseeing a $375 Million budget. Paul was also elected to serve as an Alderman in the City of Hendersonville. In 2006, Paul was recruited by U.S. Senator Bob Corker to be his aide in Nashville and 55 of the 95 TN. counties in the Senator’s first term. Paul’s also a licensed Insurance broker.
In a previous small business owned by Paul, he was highlighted twice by the Nashville Business Journal’s Entrepreneur Profiles in 2003 and in 2004. Also from the Nashville Business Journal, Paul was a 2015 recipient of the “Sumner County IMPACT-AWARD" .
